About Me

As a learning designer and instructional technologist, I enable instructors who teach online to deliver impactful learning experiences that result in measurable skill building and career advancement for learners. I have eight plus years as an LD/IT in higher education and a variety of freelance experiences as an LD/IT over the last three years.

As a learning designer I lead the efforts of subject matter experts and course design staff in the development of graduate-level coursework. As an instructional technologist I research and implement technologies that aid students and faculty in learning and delivery of course content. My role assignment varies from project to project. I have been a member of the Distance Learning team at Northwestern University since 2013.

I am particularly interested in graphic and interactive media strategies that engage students in deep learning. To make this happen I work with faculty to map and script learning exercises that can be presented in a visual way that allows students to interact with content asynchronously in complement to their traditional materials.

In 2016, I presented a demonstration of technologies and pedagogy for asynchronously recorded group presentations and peer review assignments at OLC Accelerate, Distance Teaching & Learning (DT&L) and S.L.A.T.E. conferences.

In May 2019 I completed a graduate level Professional Certificate in Instructional Design from UW Stout online, and began the next chapter of my education at Northwestern University's School of Communications in Fall 2019. I am a MSC candidate for graduation in the class of 2021.

I enjoy improving my professional skills through educational workshops, conference presentations and online tutorials. Recent workshops and certifications include Quality Matters (Rubric & Peer Reviewer Courses), Crucial Conversations, and OLC’s Online Presentations Tools. I received a Bachelor of Arts in 2004 from Columbia College, Chicago in the area of Audio Arts & Acoustics.

Prior to my time with Northwestern University, I applied my skills in leadership, project management and media production in the web design and audio/visual industries.

Outside of work, my interests include photography, videography, exploring ethnic foods, hiking, and travel. I'm beginning to share those passions through blogging and podcasting, and I look forward to growing my audience.
