MSC 531 Nonprofit Leadership
Winter 2020
This artifact is an individual research and writing assignment that I submitted for MSC 531 titled Strive Together. Students are tasked with self-selecting two case studies for which they will research, analyze and propose solutions. Each case study corresponds with weekly topics in the course, and for the weeks you are researching you are committed to leading and facilitating group discussions for in-class activities. Typically, students are one of six in-class leaders for week, and they are considered resident experts on that topic and that case study. The strategies and ideas derived from class activities may differ from the solutions proposed by one’s paper, but the activity requires you to act as moderator and group reporter. The title of my paper is derived from the title of the case study itself Strive Together: Reinventing the Local Education Ecosystem. The course topic for which my case aligns is Models of Social Impact. The Strive Together framework is a model for improving educational outcomes in underserved communities by coordinating inter-organizational community and local organizational networks toward a common goal.
The intended outcome of the assignment was to demonstrate that I could identify they key problems and summarize the outcome of my analysis, propose a realistic and specific solution that I could support with concepts from class and outside research, and discuss my recommendation for implementing the solution.
